AUERBRAKE® 5050A
AUERBRAKE® 5050A
For single & double layer coatings in combination with steel alloys
AuerBrake® 5050A is an agglomerated hard material powder developed as a hard phase reinforcement for advanced brake disc coating systems. This material was specifically developed to reduce fine dust emissions of brake discs. It is typically used in combination with matrix materials such as 430L, 316L, 1.3820 or FeCrMoNb steel alloys, to create the top layer of the brake disc coating, delivering exceptional wear resistance and thermal performance. This is true for double layer, as well as single layer coatings.
Titanium carbonitride (TiCN) offers distinct benefits over titanium carbide (TiC) in brake disc applications. Compared to TiC, TiCN provides better thermal conductivity, higher hardness at elevated temperatures, increased fracture toughness, and improved stability within the matrix. Coatings made with TiCN exhibit excellent frictional behavior and significantly reduce brake dust emissions, helping meet stringent environmental standards. These properties make the material an effective and reliable solution for braking systems used in passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, and railway applications.
