Yttrium oxide (Y2O3)
Yttrium oxide (Y2O3)
The yttrium oxide (Y2O3) produced at Treibacher is mainly used in technical ceramics and in phosphors.
Y2O3 is a white, water-insoluble, thermodynamically very stable powder. It is used primarily as an additive in phosphors, as a sintering aid in investment casting and as an additive in cathodic dip coatings for corrosion protection. It is also used as a dopant for stabilization of zirconia (yttrium-stabilized zirconia, YSZ). Y2O3 is also used in optical coatings and in the production of security pigments for banknotes and documents, as well as in the production of ceramic grinding balls. The material is also used in the production of optical glass and in the synthesis of gemstones. Another application of our powder is in the coating of incandescent bulbs for outdoor gas lamps.
