Holmium oxide (Ho2O3)

Holmium oxide (Ho2O3)

Holmium oxide is a yellowish, water-insoluble solid. It is used as a dopant in glass and phosphors.

Among other things, holmium is used as an additive in the production of magnets, for doping yttrium iron garnet (YIG), yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG) and yttrium lithium fluoride (YLF) for solid-state lasers in medical and dental applications. Holmium oxide is also used as a dopant in security inks.
