Gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3)

Gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3)

Gadolinium oxide (Gd2O3), often also referred to as gadolinia, is used in the production of phosphors, in the glass and nuclear industries.

Gd2O3 is an odourless and water-insoluble white powder. It is used as a host lattice in phosphors, for the production of optical glass with a high refractive index, in control rods of nuclear reactors and as contrast agents. It is used as an additive in the production of steel and metal alloys.
